Ella Fitzgerald - Great American Songbook

The Queen Of Jazz.

Ella Fitzgerald is one of the most defining voices of jazz ever. Her pure tone, impeccable diction, phrasing, timing, intonation, and „horn-like“ improvisational ability, especially in her scat singing, remain unmatched to this day. After a turbulent youth, Fitzgerald found stable musical success with the Chick Webb Orchestra. She performed all over the country, but was most often associated with the Savoy Ballroom in Harlem. Later, Norman Granz, founder of the Verve label, became her manager. Both Verve and Fitzgerald were to become legends.  Her outstanding recordings include, above all, her songbooks of the most important American composers of the first half of the 20th century, to whom she set monuments and left textbooks for all subsequent singers on how to interpret the respective songs perfectly.  Ella Fitzgerald was honored with 14 Grammy Awards during her 60-year career, including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. She also received the National Medal of Arts and the Presidential Medal of Freedom..
