In spring 1990 Matthias Reim released his first single as singer with Verdammt, ich lieb‘ Dich. Before that he worked as a composer and texter. Nobody wanted to record his title, Reim decided to try it himself. The result: With over 2.5 million sales and an incredible 16 weeks at No. 1 in the single charts, Verdammt, ich lieb‘ Dich became one of the most successful German songs of all time. In June 1990 the album Reim was released, which also reached the top of the hit parade in Germany and Switzerland. It sold over 1.7 million copies, was in the German charts for almost a year and contained another No. 2 hit, Ich hab geträumt von Dir.  By the way: After some escapades Matthias Reim still belongs to the megastars of German music also 30 years after Verdammt, ich lieb‘ Dich.
